Venice Canals is a Hard-level (Ultra Hard in the arcade version) track that is featured in the original Hydro Thunder. It is considered to be the hardest track in the entire game. It is set in the city of Venice in Italy.

Ah, Venice. One thinks of lovers, romance and of course the ear-piercing roar of sixteen super-boat motors tearing through the moonlit canals! With its extremely sharp turns that never let up, Venice Canals is arguably the most difficult track in Hydro Thunder.

Venice Canals is one of the most brutal tracks in the game. It is extremely winding, and the in-game timer on most versions runs close to zero for a bulk of the track, further ratcheting up the pressure and difficulty of the track. For the first two checkpoints, it is a race against the clock on most versions as one mistake can have the timer run out completely at this portion of the track. Right after the second checkpoint you have to Hydro Jump over the railing that is your best chance at catching first place that is needed to progress. Make sure to Hydro Jump so you land right before the ramp with a 4 second Boost and gun the boost off the ramp to shoot onto the grass and save even more time. A hard right turn with a Patrol Boat comes when you hit the water again, with a short cut holding a 9 Second Boost. You are then met with series of extremely sharp turns before it turns straight with a ramp holding a 4 Second Boost. Hydro Jump into the middle chandelier for hidden 9 second boost than take the right most path that is significantly shorter before merging in room that holds a steep ramp with a 4 second boost and a nine second boost in a far right cubby hole. The track then makes a hard left turn with a 4 second boost on final ramp before the finish line.
